Rinceau Frieze Limestone Mantel with Volute Corbels
The frieze on this reclaimed limestone mantel is one unbroken rinceau, a continuous ribbon of acanthus scrollwork punctuated by rosettes and cut deep enough to hold real shadow. Below it, two generous volute corbels roll outward onto square block feet and carry a single piece limestone hearth. Photographed against a plain wall so the carving reads on its own terms, the stone shows the warm ivory patina and softened arrises that only genuine age produces. Ancient Surfaces offers this antique limestone fireplace mantel for a formal living room, a library or a principal suite.
