Tuscan Limestone Mantel with Heavy Moulded Shelf

The shelf does the work on this one. A deep moulded cornice runs well proud of the frieze and is carried on tall fluted corbel jambs, so the mantel reads as architecture set against the wall rather than a surround cut into it.
