Antique Limestone Mantel with Carved Column Jambs

Two carved panels split the frieze, and beneath them a pair of engaged columns rise from moulded bases to foliate capitals, giving this reclaimed limestone mantel a strong vertical structure that suits a low beamed room. The herringbone firebox glows behind it and the hearth slab in front has been walked on for a very long time.
